Kitesurfing

The intro lesson is on land and water. You will firstly learn basic flying skills with the training kite as above. Once you have mastered this the instructor will take you through the set up and safety systems for the big kite. You will then practice with the big kite on the land with the instructor before entering the water.

We love the ocean so our instructors will come in the water with you to do what we call ‘Body dragging’ with the kite. Learning how to go away from the beach and towards the beach. You will also learn how to relaunch the kite when it falls in the water and our instructors will start to get you to feel comfortable with your kite control.

1st LESSON – 3HRS KITE INTRO

Your experience will encompass both land and ocean activities. Initially, you’ll develop essential flying skills using the training kite, as demonstrated above. After mastering these basics, the instructor will guide you through setting up and understanding the safety systems for the larger kite. You will then practice handling the big kite on land under the instructor’s supervision before transitioning to the water.

Our instructors will join you in the water to do what we call ‘Body dragging’ with the kite. Learning how to go away from the beach and towards the beach. You will also learn how to relaunch the kite when it falls in the water and our instructors will start to get you to feel comfortable with your kite control.

2nd LESSON – 2HRS

During this session, you’ll be in the water, continuing “body dragging” on your own. You’ll learn how to navigate both upwind and downwind.

Next, you’ll practice relaunching your kite when it falls into the water and learn how to change direction while “body dragging.” With continued practice, you’ll gain a better understanding of the kite, becoming comfortable handling it independently and adjusting its power and speed.

3rd LESSON – 2HRS

This ocean-based session introduces you to the board. You’ll start by “body dragging” with the board in one hand and the kite in the other. The instructor will first demonstrate this technique on the beach.

1st LESSON – 3HRS KITE INTRO

2nd LESSON – 2HRS

This session in in the ocean, where you will continue ‘Body dragging’ alone. You will learn how to go towards the wind (upwind) and away from the wind (downwind).

You will practice your relaunches when your kite falls into the water, learn how to change direction when ‘body dragging’. With practice you will start to understand the kite more and feel comfortable handling it alone and increasing and decreasing power and speed.

3rd LESSON – 2HRS

Your 3rd lesson is a water-based session and introduction to the board. You will first ‘body drag’ with the board in one hand and the kite in the other. You will be shown this on the beach
first.

Once you have mastered this you will be shown how to put the board on your feet and complete a water start, where you get up on the board to start to ride. Don’t be disappointed if you only do a few meters, YOU ARE KITESURFING!!

4th LESSON – 2HRS

A water based session. You will now be at the stage where you can practice your water starts and hopefully start riding a little bit in each direction. With the IKO Qualification you should be at the stage of independent kiter which means that in the right conditions you would be able to rent equipment and practice.

The big thing you need to learn is how to ride upwind. This means you will spend less time walking back up the beach!!
